Book Banter EP 89: Michele Di Pietro, Cookbook Author

Hello My Happy People, I had the chance to chat with the incredible chef, Michele Di Pietro. Not only is she just a fantastic person in general, she is a cookbook author, food writer, menu and recipe developer, professional chef, culinary consultant, and a budding food photographer. Somehow she managed to find time in her busy career to talk with me about her cookbook, SOUPified: Soups Inspired by Your Favorite Dishes.

Michele began her professional career in a much different career field. After graduating college, Michele didn't head to the kitchen but instead started working in finance as a Certified Public Accountant with a top firm in NYC. However, her life was meant to take a different path. According to Michele, some of her favorite things are to feed people, create recipes, and cook for others. Through her Italian and Italian-American-inspired recipes and stories, Michele strives to provide innovation, inspiration and nostalgia from her kitchen to yours. So it only seemed natural that after leaving the financial world behind, Michele graduated from culinary school and created a new career path for herself in what would turn out to be a deeply satisfying move.

Michele spent years working for others in the food industry as a cook, recipe and menu developer and eventually becoming a culinary director for one of the world’s largest natural foods retailers. It wasn't long before Michele decided to take the next natural step and start her own business, It’s All About The Food, LLC. Michele consults on menu development, culinary strategies, and more for a variety of food businesses. As her professional success continued, Michele expanded with the creation of Mangia With Michele in 2017. This new venture was the culmination of her lifelong passion for Italian ingredients, foods, recipes, culture, and traditions. Through recipes, stories and her love of cooking, she works to inspire others to enjoy cooking with the flavors of the Italian and Italian-American cuisine. Michele is a firm believer that the best way to get to know others is through shared food, preferably around the kitchen table. Be sure to check out Michele in the November issue of Book Banter Magazine where she shares her recipe for Twice-Baked, Loaded Potato Soup With Bacon from her cookbook, SOUPified: Soups Inspired by Your Favorite Dishes. The perfect comfort soup to warm you up on a chilly fall evening!

On a personal note: My husband and I tried Michele's Lasagna Soup not long after this interview. It was beyond amazing and so easy to make. It was so good we had to try another. We made the Twice Baked, Loaded Potato Soup with Bacon the next night. Potato soup has always been my favorite and Michele's recipe is now my absolute favorite way to make it. This will more than likely be made in our home at least once a month from now on. I cannot recommend her and her recipes enough.

If you love to cook simple recipes that deliver incredible flavor, get her cookbook! Share this blog with your friends who like to cook and are looking for delicious, easy to follow recipes. Listen to her podcast and follow her on her social media for more fantastic recipes. She does so much more than just soup and she shares loads of recipes for free with her followers. You cannot go wrong Michele Di Pietro ... unless you don't follow her. Then you will be missing out! Don't do that to yourself, treat yourself instead. You deserve it!

Enjoy!

Dianne
