S5 EP247 | Liisa Kovala and the Stories, Mysteries,

and the Things They Don't Tell Aspiring Authors

Hello My Happy People,

Award-winning author and book coach Liisa Kovala joins me for S5 EP247 of Book Banter with Dianne Burckhard to talk about the stories that inspire her, the mysteries she creates, and the publishing realities aspiring authors rarely learn in school!

Discover the inspiration behind her historical novel Like Water for Weary Souls, a compelling story of Finnish immigrant women navigating love, family, and survival in Depression-era northern Ontario. We'll also explore her cozy mysteries written as A.L. Jensen, her journey from teaching to publishing, and what she's learned about the challenges of building a writing career.

And the conversation doesn't end when the podcast does! In the BTS blog I share a lot of what had to hit the cutting room floor due to time limits. Discover the extraordinary true story behind Liisa's first book, inspired by her father's survival of a WWII concentration camp. Plus, find out when a book coach can make a difference and why connecting with other writers might be one of the smartest decisions an aspiring author can make.

🎧 Whether you love historical fiction, enjoy a good mystery, or dream of writing your own book, this is a conversation you won't want to miss! Listen to S5 EP247, then head over to the BTS blog for even more fascinating stories and insights from Liisa!
