Washington insider turned thriller author, Chad Boudreaux, returns to discuss Mob Justice, organized crime, hidden conspiracies, and the realities of building a successful writing career.

Hello My Happy People,
Before we jump into today's interview, I wanted to let you know about a few changes we're making here at Burckhardt Books and Book Banter Productions.
As our business continues to grow, we're expanding the content we share across our different platforms. In the past, the podcast description, podcast page, and blog post often contained the same information. Going forward, each location will offer something a little different.
You'll still find a quick overview in the podcast description and additional details on the podcast page, but the most in-depth content will now live here on the blog. My goal is to give you a richer experience by sharing more information about our guests, their books, and the conversations we have on the podcast without simply repeating the same content everywhere.
Whether you follow along through the podcast, our website, the blog, or our newsletter, you'll discover unique content in each place and gain a deeper look at the authors and stories we feature.
Today, thriller author Chad Boudreaux returns to Book Banter with Dianne Burckhardt for another fascinating conversation, this time centered around his latest thriller, Mob Justice. While Chad first appeared on the podcast in Season 4, Episode 193, where we discussed his background and transition into writing, this interview gave us an opportunity to catch up on his latest work and spend more time getting to know the person behind the books.
Before becoming an award-winning thriller author, Chad built an impressive career in public service. Hired by the U.S. Department of Justice the night before the September 11 attacks, he quickly found himself working in the world of counterterrorism and national security. His career later took him to the Department of Homeland Security, where he advised senior leadership on major policy, operational, and legal issues. Today, he serves as the chief legal officer of a publicly traded Fortune 300 company and America's largest military shipbuilder. That unique background gives him a perspective few thriller writers can match.
That experience is on full display in Mob Justice. The novel follows Justice Department lawyer Blake Hudson as he takes on the Chicago Outfit, only to discover that organized crime may not be the greatest danger lurking beneath the surface. Loyalties shift, alliances blur, and hidden forces work behind the scenes as Blake races to prevent violence from erupting into something much larger. At the center of the story is Enzo Renzi, a mafia consigliere whose loyalties and conscience place him directly in the crosshairs of powerful enemies.
While we certainly discussed Mob Justice and Chad's writing career, some of my favorite moments came when the conversation turned to life beyond the page. We talked about family, memorable vacations, favorite desserts, and the dogs that have been part of his life over the years. Chad shared stories about his first dog, his affection for Great Danes, and some of the experiences that have helped shape the person behind the books.
We also discussed the realities of balancing a demanding professional career with publishing, the challenges authors face while building a sustainable writing career, and the long-term plans Chad has for his growing catalog of thrillers. These conversations provided an interesting look at the dedication required to maintain both a successful career and a thriving creative life.
One of the things that made this interview so enjoyable was that it wasn't just about publishing. By the end of our conversation, I felt listeners would walk away knowing more about Chad the person, not just Chad the author. Those personal stories helped create one of the most relaxed and engaging conversations I've had in quite some time.
If you enjoy thrillers filled with suspense, intrigue, hidden conspiracies, and unexpected twists, you'll definitely want to add Mob Justice to your reading list. Be sure to listen to the full interview and, if you missed Chad's first appearance on the podcast, take some time to visit Season 4, Episode 193 (link below) to learn more about his remarkable journey from Washington insider to award-winning thriller author.
Enjoy,
Dianne
