Book Banter EP 88: Otto Schafer Interview

Hello My Happy People,

If you are on TikTok's #Booktok at all, you have probably seen our guest today. Otto Schafer is the author of the award-winning YA contemporary fantasy God Stone series. His first book, The Secret Journal, was a winner in the Soon to be Famous Illinois Author Project and his second book of that series, The Keepers of the Light, was selected as a Semi Finalist in 2021.

Like many authors, Otto uses his own life experiences to fuel his writing. He grew up in a small historic town in central Illinois which he featured in his God Stone series. You can find many locations mentioned in his books if you find yourself visiting Petersburg, Illinois.

Otto lives in a log cabin which he shares with his wife, tucked away in a quiet area of the woods. Otto can often be found out in nature, running forrest trails near his home when not working on his books.
