Whatever Wednesday: Gingerbread Wookies

Hello, Posse!

I hope you are having a great week. I thought I had a dentist appointment today (it is actually tomorrow) and I did have a doctor's appointment on Monday with the family doctor to check the work the paramedics did on my hand this past Sunday. If you didn't know, I cut my hand pretty bad, but it's healing up very nicely. So that is how my week is going. I did get a bag a Cheetos after the seeing my doctor Monday, so my week's not all bad.

But enough of my rambling . . .

I don't know about you, but one of the things I like about the holiday's is baking fun treats that I wouldn't usually indulge in during the year. I have a few things planned for this week. I have not been able to make my traditional German Stollen Bread yet, the store was out of Marzipan. I should be able to pick some up tomorrow and get it made this week.

tonight I plan to make some Star Wars Christmas cookies from Tasty.com to surprise Pedro. A year or so ago we bought a Wookie Cookie Jar. If you are a Star Wars fan (which we definitely are) and like gingerbread cookies (which we do) this is the recipe for you, Gingerbread Wookie Cookies! They are so cute and easy to make if you like making cookies. With just 12 ingredients and about a hour of free time, you can have these tasty and adorable Star Wars inspired holiday treats.

UPDATE 10 Dec. 2021: I added photos of the Wookie Cookies I made for Pedro. Which are now being stored in our Wookie Cookie Jar.

As you can see, I added little Santa hats to ours to make them a bit more Christmas-y. I wanted to do red on his cap but my red food coloring was all dried up so I just cooked one batch to taste test and will be making the rest of the cookies tomorrow. I'll update with another photo with the finished products. When I made these I had to add a LOT more flour than the recipe called for to make a cough you could roll out. I even used a scale and measured everything exactly to the recipe. So if you make these, expect to add flour. The good news is, they taste amazing!

Have you ever made any of the recipes from out blogs? We would love to see photos if you have and hear what you thought of the recipe. We always love hearing from you!

Know what else makes a great treat this holiday? Gifting someone one (or more) of my books. You can find them all at www.StephenBurckhardt.com/books. Or you can have them sign up for my mailing list (you can too if you haven't already) and they will get some free gifts from me this Christmas if they sign up by midnight CST on December 22, 2021. You can sign up on the bottom of any page of this website. Who doesn't like free gifts?!

What are your favorite holiday recipes? We would love to know what you make this time of year.

Have a great week, Posse!

Dianne
