Whatever Wednesday: EP 11 Castles of King Ludwig II

Hello, Posse!

In this episode, I talk about a recent tour of the castles of King Ludwig II of Bavaria that my family and I took over the weekend. We saw three castles on our weeknd tour and were able to see inside of two of them. The third was only seen from a distance.

The first castle on the tour was the Linderhof Palace (seen in the first eight photos of the gallery above). To get to this castle the group had to hike up a short hill. However, to see the Neuschwanstein Castle (the white castle on the mountain said to be the inspiration for the castle at Disney Parks), visitors could take a horse drawn cart halfway up the mountain and hike from there.

I did not like the condition the horses looked to be in, so I chose to hike the entire way up the mountain to the castle instead. It was a bold move for a woman in her 50s who spends most of her time on the computer. It was real test of my endurance, my left knee, and my asthma inhaler, which I actually forgot at home (oops). My family was not thrilled with the long hike, but agreed with my reasons.

The third castle the tour group saw from a distance, but did not go into was Hohenschwangau Castle (the yellow castle in the photos). You can see this one from the balcony of the Neuschwanstein castle.
